Quest for Success Syllabus

Teacher:  Mrs. Hunt- leahahunt@opsb.net- (318) 325-1575

Location:  Library

Time:  “Block B” --Tuesdays & Thursdays (8:00 – 9:30)

Introduction:

Hi, my name is Mrs. Hunt, and I will be your teacher for the “Quest for Success” class you will be taking Course 5 during the 2023-2024 school year.  As well as teaching this class, I am also the librarian, testing coordinator, and 504 coordinator.  Our class will take place in the library using your Chromebooks.

You must be at your assigned computer or table seat by the time the tardy bell rings.  Please do not try sliding into the room when the tardy bell is ringing.  Attendance will be taken each day.  The school attendance policy is set forth in the handbook.  If you are unfamiliar with it, you may want to look at this since it does affect EVERY class you are taking.

If you or your parents have a question about class (outside of class time), you may email me at leahahunt@opsb.net.  I will try my very best to answer whatever questions you or your parents may have concerning class as soon as possible.  However, with my varied workload, it may be the next school day when I have a chance to answer your email.  If your parents prefer, they may call the school at (318) 325-1575, ask for the library or Mrs. Hunt, and their call will be transferred to me.

Class Assignments:

Assignments will be posted to our Google Classroom page each Monday. Students should check this page to see what assignments are to be completed, when they are due, and any other pertinent class information that they may need to know. To complete assignments for the class, students will mainly be using the website, Edgenuity.  This is a career-based learning program that is accessed online. Since the program is online, students may work on their assignments during any free time as long as they have an internet-connected device.  The work is self- paced; but, Units will be assigned due dates and all work in the Units must be completed by the date given.  If a student works appropriately during the class period, he/she should have no trouble completing assignments inside the allotted classroom time.  If, however, a student is absent or is just not working in a punctual manner, extra time may be needed in order to finish the given assignment(s).

Login Information:

In order to complete assignments in Edgenuity, students will be given an individual Username and Password.  Please put this information in a safe place and do not lose it.  Do not share your log-in information with other students.  ALSO, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES CHANGE YOUR USERNAME OR YOUR PASSWORD!  Changing either of these will result in your assignments showing incomplete on my end of the program, and this will result in you having to re-take your assignments.

**Since the grades from this class will be taken from an online, self-paced program, it is important that parents and students read over the information above and acknowledge the way this course will be completed.  With passing grades, the student will receive ONE (1) high school credit that will be reported on his/her transcript.  The credit can only be given if the student has passed the course. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  I am looking forward to an exciting year with your student as he/she begins to explore career fields that he/she may one day be a member!**
